Top board directors and CEOs are paving the way for both women and Latinos in the corporate boardroom. Currently, the vast majority of board members in the Fortune 500 continue to be white men with women representing about 20% of corporate board directors. Although women of color are considered one of the fastest growing and most influential segments in business, they only hold about 4% of board positions. Latinas in the board room are especially underrepresented. In fact, we need 11 times as many Latinas to be in proportion to the U.S. population.
The Women’s Leadership Foundation is taking an active role in raising the awareness of this issue and improving these statistics by ensuring Latinas participate in Corporate Boardbound, and by hosting a variety of workshops focusing on Latinas.
