Why Board Bound?
Research has shown that when there are more women in the boardroom, there are more women in higher ranks in their organizations creating meaningful role models for other women to succeed. Currently only 12% of board seats within publicly-traded companies in Colorado are held by women which lags national averages. Board Bound is an initiative created to increase awareness about this issue, increase the number of women serving on boards, as well as encourage gender diversity. Women on boards equates to increased performance for organizations. Although Colorado companies have taken positive steps over the last four years, there is still much work to be done.
Board Bound is the flagship program of the Women’s Leadership Foundation. Corporate Board Bound and Community Board Bound are unique programs because they provide women with an individualized plan consisting of the components each woman needs most to prepare and ideally position her for a board seat on a corporate or non-profit board of directors.
